Le Perche turns out to be one of the easier corners of rural France to drive an EV in. A ring of 150 kW chargers wraps the region, a handful of 50 to 120 kW stations sit just inside it, and almost every market town has a 22 kW slow point on the square. Once you see the map, the question is not where you can charge. It is which coffee you want with it.

A note on the brief. This is a different sort of post for us; the blog tends toward markets, restaurants and forest walks, not kilowatts and connectors. But our first years of EV ownership here were largely a project of working out how to charge, when, and where. Before the McDonald's fast sites went in, planning a weekend around the slow network was a real exercise. This is the post we wish someone had handed us back then.

The list below is cross-checked against the French national charging registry (the IRVE consolidated file at data.gouv.fr, refreshed 6 May 2026), against 61mobility for the local public network, and against what we have actually plugged into. Where the registry and reality disagree, we say so.

The map

Every site below is on our interactive map. Red markers are high-speed (150 kW and up), gold are mid-power (50 to 149 kW), teal are slow (under 50 kW). Click a marker for operator, address, connector and tariff.

Fast chargers, by direction

Near Bellême and Mamers. The default is McDonald's Mamers at 11 Route de Bellême, 72600 Mamers, twelve kilometres and fifteen minutes from Bellême. Four IZIVIA FAST stalls at 200 kW CCS, a twenty-minute 80% top-up, around €0.30 to €0.35 per kWh, coffee while you wait. Lidl Saint-Longis is next door at Lidl, D311, 72600 Saint-Longis, a 120 kW CCS unit at €0.39 per kWh, open with the store, useful when McDonald's is busy (which happens on Saturdays). Further south-east, Freshmile at 3 Rue du Perche, 72110 Saint-Cosme-en-Vairais runs 80 kW CCS, handy on the back roads toward Le Mans.

Near Mortagne-au-Perche. The Mortagne Intermarché charger is a slow 7.4 kW point, not the fast option people sometimes expect. The genuine fast options sit just outside town: McDonald's Saint-Hilaire-le-Châtel at 5 Parc de la Henne Brochard, 61400 Saint-Hilaire-le-Châtel, five minutes east, 150 kW CCS IZIVIA FAST, and Bump at Super U at Les Pièces Sur La Route, 61400 Saint-Langis-lès-Mortagne, five minutes south, 150 kW CCS on the Bump network. Either works.

Toward La Ferté-Bernard. Three options within a few hundred metres of each other on Avenue du Général de Gaulle: McDonald's at 3 Avenue du Général de Gaulle, 72400 La Ferté-Bernard (150 kW, IZIVIA FAST), Lidl at 41 Avenue du Général de Gaulle, 72400 La Ferté-Bernard (120 kW), and Carrefour Market at Avenue Pierre Brûlé, 72400 La Ferté-Bernard (50 kW, DRIVECO). Three operators, one stretch of road.

Toward Nogent-le-Rotrou and L'Aigle. McDonald's Nogent-le-Rotrou at 32 Avenue du Président Kennedy, 28400 Nogent-le-Rotrou is the fast charger on the eastern edge of Le Perche, 150 kW CCS IZIVIA FAST. IZIVIA FAST L'Aigle at 2 Place du Parc, 61300 L'Aigle is another 150 kW stop, thirty-five minutes north-east of Bellême and the right answer if you are heading toward Verneuil or Évreux.

The default. If you are based in Bellême and need fast charging once or twice a week, McDonald's Mamers is the answer. Close, generous power, and the food is the food. It also sits a hundred metres from the Super U at Super U, Route de Bellême, 72600 Mamers, which makes the easy play obvious: plug in, walk over for the weekly groceries, come back to a full battery. Lidl Saint-Longis is the polite alternative when McDonald's is busy. Everything else on the list is for specific routes.

Autoroute corridors, for transit

If you are passing through rather than staying, two stops cover most arrivals. IONITY Villaines-la-Gonais at Aire de Villaines-la-Gonais, A11, 72400 Villaines-la-Gonais sits on the A11 in both directions, 350 kW CCS, the ultra-fast option south of Le Perche; small site, limited stalls, queues at peak, fine off-peak. TotalEnergies Dentelle d'Alençon at Aire de la Dentelle d'Alençon, A28, 61250 Valframbert sits on the A28 in both directions, four fast stalls per side, the natural break coming from or going to Rouen and Caen. Neither sits inside Le Perche, but both shorten arrival and departure days.

Slow chargers, by town

The slow network covers far more ground than the fast one. Most days you do not need fast charging. You need a wall socket where you already are. What follows is what the national registry confirms, town by town. Where local sites exist outside the registry, we say so.

Bellême. Two 22 kW AC points on the 61mobility network at Place Boucicaut, 61130 Bellême, next to the post office; the default for residents. A second pair of 22 kW Type 2 points sits a hundred metres away at 3 Place du Général Leclerc, 61130 Bellême, useful when Boucicaut is taken. Neither is in the IRVE file but both are on the ground.

Mortagne-au-Perche. Intermarché at Intermarché, Route de Rémalard, 61400 Mortagne-au-Perche, 7.4 kW Type 2, four connectors, open 24/7. Bricomarché at Bricomarché, Rue de Chartrage, 61400 Mortagne-au-Perche, 7.4 kW Type 2, four connectors.

Saint-Langis-lès-Mortagne. i-paper at Avenue de la Gare, 61400 Saint-Langis-lès-Mortagne, 22 kW, four connectors.

Mamers. Super U at Super U, Route de Bellême, 72600 Mamers, 22 kW Type 2, eight connectors.

Saint-Cosme-en-Vairais. The square at Place Saint-Damien, 72110 Saint-Cosme-en-Vairais, 24 kW, five connectors. The most useful slow station south of Mamers.

La Ferté-Bernard. A dense local network. The Ludothèque at 1 Rue Alfred Marchand, 72400 La Ferté-Bernard and Place de la République, 72400 La Ferté-Bernard both run 24 kW points with four connectors each. The McDonald's car park at 3 Avenue du Général de Gaulle, 72400 La Ferté-Bernard also has 24 kW slow stalls in addition to its fast site. Leclerc at Leclerc, Avenue de Paris, 72400 La Ferté-Bernard runs 22 kW points. The WAAT station at 1 Rue Alfred Marchand, 72400 La Ferté-Bernard adds three more.

Nogent-le-Rotrou. Five MODULO sites across town: Rue du Château, 28400 Nogent-le-Rotrou, Place du 11 Août, 28400 Nogent-le-Rotrou, Rue Maison Maraine, 28400 Nogent-le-Rotrou, Place St Pol, 28400 Nogent-le-Rotrou, Rue du Commandant Charcot, 28400 Nogent-le-Rotrou. Leclerc at Leclerc, Avenue de Paris, 28400 Nogent-le-Rotrou also runs 22 kW points.

Authon-du-Perche. MODULO point at Place de la Mairie, 28330 Authon-du-Perche.

Margon. MODULO point at Rue de la Cloche, 28400 Margon.

Avezé. Jardinerie d'Avezé, 72400 Avezé, 22 kW.

Bonnétable. Super U at Super U, Avenue du 8 Mai 1945, 72110 Bonnétable, 7.4 kW.

The one thing to know about slow chargers

Many of these units bill you for time connected as well as for energy delivered. That is fine while you are actively charging. It is expensive when you have walked off to lunch and forgotten about the car, because the meter keeps running even after the battery is full. Operators vary: some meter only kWh, some only time, most do both. Before you plug in, check the tariff on the unit or in the operator's app, set a timer for the time it will take to fill, and come back and unplug when you are done. A 22 kW AC point left connected over a long lunch can quietly turn into the most expensive charge of the trip.

What we would actually do

A weekend in Bellême in an EV, in practice:

  1. Arrive with 20% left. Drive to McDonald's Mamers, charge to 80% while you have a coffee. Twenty minutes.
  2. For the rest of the weekend, top up at Place Boucicaut in Bellême, at Saint-Cosme square, or at Mortagne when you visit. Slow, cheap per kWh, but mind the time-billing and unplug.
  3. Leave with what you have. Touch the autoroute charger only if your destination is more than 250 km further out.

If you are staying a week, skip the fast charger after the first stop. The slow network covers everything.

Keeping this current

We keep this list and the map updated. If you spot a site we have missed, or a tariff that has changed, the Send a Tip form is the fastest way to flag it.
